This amazing cabin is located in Smiths Ferry on the gently sloping hills behind (east) of Cougar Mountain Lodge Restaurant. Miles of recreation trails, snowpark and the Payette River out the front door. Amazing forest and valley views.
If you're staying in for dinner, the modern kitchen is ready to help the chef in you whip up just about anything you'd like. Pop something in the microwave, or prep your way to a great meal with plenty of pots, pans, utensils and a dishwasher for easy clean up.
You'll be walking distance to the river, if you want to go rafting, swim or fish. The Cougar Mountain Lodge Parking Lot is where the famous Cabarton rafting trip bus picks up folks in the morning and is where you'll finish your rafting adventure in the afternoon. Bring up your snowmobiles and park your trailers at the nearby snow park and ride some epic country.
20 minutes north, the town of Cascade features magnificent Lake Cascade, Payette National Forest, the Middle Fork of the Payette River, boutique shops, a grocery store, a movie theater, a workout facility, an olympic-sized hot springs-fed pool (covered in the the winter time for year-round access), a white water park and much more. Whether you're having fun around the outdoor fire pit, enjoying a meal using the gas barbecue grill on the patio, or just relaxing by watching a movie, your stay is certain to be comfortable and memorable.
This single level family and group-friendly lodge also has a washer, dryer and readily available amenities for kids, such as a high chair and a pack and play (please request these well in advance to ensure they'll be onsite).
There is parking for 2 trucks in the driveway. An additional 2 trucks can park down at the bottom of the driveway. Trailers and RVs are not easy to park at the home so we recommend parking them across Hwy 55 in the overflow trailer parking at Wellington Snow Park across the street to the west and south of Cougar Mountain Lodge. In the winter, there is enough room for about 4 trucks at the cabin. The cabin is accessible year-round and is located about 3/4 of a mile due east of Cougar Mountain Lodge Restaurant (located on state highway 55). In the winter time, tire chains are recommended to make it up the very last section of the driveway. Alternatively, there's parking at the bottom of the driveway with a 50 yard walk up to the cabin, if you forgot your winter tire chains (late November-March). Again, chains and Four Wheel Drive are required in the winter.
Smith's Ferry's unique micro-climate is ideally suited for the outdoor enthusiast, beautiful in the spring summer and fall, and blanketed in powdery snow in the winter. You'll be able to experience the many outdoor activities - swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting, snowmobiling, boating, skiing, and more. Unlike most areas of the US, this comes with thousands of public acres of tree-covered mountains and snow-capped peaks.
